Michael Kroin

CEO and Managing Partner

As CEO and Managing Partner of Physician Growth Partners, Michael Kroin leads transaction execution for independent physician practices and groups. Michael started his career as a healthcare investment banker. He worked with specialty physician practices, positioning them for transactions to private equity, medical groups, hospitals, health systems and other strategic buyers.

At PGP, Michael uses his understanding of the healthcare landscape to guide clients through each transaction. At every stage of the process, Michael’s hands-on and innovative approach gives clients the value of experience and senior leadership insight, positioning them for the best possible outcomes and helping them to achieve their goals and succession plans.

Ezra Simons

Partner

As a Partner at Physician Growth Partners (PGP), Ezra Simons leads transaction execution for independent physician practices and groups. Ezra started his career in healthcare working as an investment banker, transaction advisor and valuation expert. As a key advisor in these transactions, Ezra worked with physician practices, health systems, and other medical groups.

At PGP, Ezra is passionate about guiding physician entrepreneurs through each stage of the business building lifecycle across the healthcare ecosystem. He advises physician groups nationally to ensure they achieve their succession plans and goals through a transaction with private equity or strategic buyers.

Robert Aprill

Partner

As a Partner at Physician Growth Partners, Robert advises founder and provider owned businesses in the healthcare services industry as they prepare for and ultimately pursue a transaction. Prior to Physician Growth Partners, Robert started his career as a healthcare investment banker where he led the firm’s origination and execution efforts in multiple healthcare services sub-verticals, specializing in advising business owners through transactions with private equity and strategic acquirers.

At PGP, Robert specializes in providing transaction advisory services across a wide range of provider-based sectors including physician practice management and behavioral health services. Robert’s work focuses on understanding the transactional goals of a business and its’ owners and managing a customized, client-focused process that delivers an exceptional result.

John M. Tiedmann, Jr.

Managing Director

John joined PGP in 2024, bolstering the healthcare investment banking team. As a Managing Director, John is responsible for advising PGP clients and leading the execution of transactions ranging from physician groups to healthcare services organizations.

For over a decade, John has been advising healthcare groups in transactions with private equity and strategic acquirers in a variety of sectors including physician practice management, healthcare facilities, and related ancillary services. He leverages ample experience and takes a white glove approach to helping healthcare providers navigate the private equity landscape. John strives to help clients exceed their goals by maximizing transaction outcomes and identifying the right strategic partner from both cultural and operational perspectives.

Thomas M. Cunningham

Director of Business Development

Thomas Cunningham brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic business development, data-driven growth, and team leadership to his role as Director of Business Development at Physician Growth Partners. He joined the firm in 2023 and leads commercial growth initiatives, including proprietary deal origination, founder and client development, buy-side investor relationships, and firm-wide brand strategy.

Prior to joining PGP, Thomas led business development for Levin Associates, a leading healthcare M&A research and publications firm, where he worked closely with investors, operators, and advisors across the healthcare services landscape. Before that, he co-founded Dark Horse Consulting, a go-to-market strategy consulting firm that partnered with orthopedic surgeons and supported early-stage HealthTech and Medtech companies in launching and scaling their platforms, contributing to multiple private equity and strategic exits.

Thomas is actively involved in the broader M&A community and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Healthcare Committee for ACG Chicago, where he helps connect founders, investors, and advisors across the healthcare ecosystem.

Jake Dangovian

Vice President

As an Advisor, Jake is responsible for buy-side and sell-side transaction execution, operational and strategic management of portfolio companies, and new investment sourcing. His expertise in acquisitions and financial operations helps identify opportunities to acquire and grow platform companies. He is able to leverage his previous experience to support clients in receiving maximum value with their transactions.

Jake has experience in various accounting and finance roles, with an extensive background in real estate and private investments. Immediately prior to joining PGP, he led the finance department at a real estate development company. Jake started his career in public accounting as a licensed CPA.

James Perrone

Vice President

Since joining Physician Growth Partners in 2022, James has focused his advisory work on all aspects of the transaction process, including transaction strategy and positioning, financial analysis, due diligence, and ultimately deal execution. James has several years of experience advising healthcare services companies and independent physician groups on both sell-side and buy-side transactions.

Prior to joining Physician Growth Partners, James was an associate in the healthcare group at Lincoln International. He began his career at RSM US LLP in the business valuation department.

Andrew Holm

Vice President

As an Advisor, Andrew is responsible for buy-side transaction execution, operational and strategic management of portfolio companies, and new investment sourcing. Andrew began his tenure at PGP in 2018 on the sell-side transaction advisory team and transitioned to PGP’s investment team in 2019.

Andrew is an expert in strategic growth in the health care space and deeply familiar with the day-to-day challenges of managing growth stage companies. He works daily with portfolio company founders to formulate and implement strategic initiatives across all departments of the business. Andrew’s experience on both the advisory and investment teams at PGP has lent to exceptional knowledge of companies’ lifecycle from initial investment to successful exit.

Sali Asani

Vice President

Sal provides sell-side transaction advisory services to healthcare businesses in partnership with private equity. He started his career as an investment banker advising founder-owned businesses in pursuit of a transaction across a multitude of sectors. At PGP, Sal’s focus revolves around the entirety of the transaction process, including but not limited to, financial analysis, due diligence, and execution.

Sal utilizes his depth of experience in advisory to facilitate successful processes for clients pursuing a transaction.

Transaction Advisor

As a Transaction Advisor, Nick provides support along all relevant steps of the transaction process. Prior to joining Physician Growth Partners, he had experience working with a multi-specialty healthcare platform, allowing him to leverage this knowledge into his current role. Nick graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Finance and Business Analytics.

Nick utilizes his experience in a healthcare setting to ensure optimal client outcomes throughout transactions at Physician Growth Partners.

Jordan Vetrone

Transaction Advisor

Prior to joining PGP, Jordan spent several years advising founder-led businesses across a range of industries, gaining broad experience in sell-side M&A and private company transactions. He brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to each engagement, with a focus on helping clients achieve optimal outcomes.

Matt Garber

Transaction Advisor

Matt joined Physician Growth Partners in 2023 after finishing his M.S. in Business Analytics from Boston University. He primarily focuses on providing financial analysis, developing marketing materials, due diligence, and execution for our sell-side M&A advisory team.

At PGP, Matt works to support physician-owned healthcare services businesses across a diverse range of industry verticals throughout the entire transaction process, ultimately helping them achieve their goals.

Alec Staub

Transaction Advisor

Alec joined Physician Growth Partners in 2025 to support physician-owned healthcare services clients throughout the transaction process. He specializes in financial analysis, marketing materials development, due diligence support, and deal execution as part of the sell-side M&A advisory team.

Before joining PGP, Alec spent two years as an analyst at a middle-market investment banking firm, where he honed his skills in supporting sell-side healthcare M&A mandates.

Christopher Tracanna

Transaction Advisor

Christopher joined Physician Growth Partners in 2025 to support healthcare businesses in navigating the transaction process, positioning them for success. Through his tailored approach to financial due diligence, healthcare operations analysis, and deal execution, he strives to align provider-owned healthcare services organizations with the ideal partner and is committed to supporting clients throughout the transaction process.

Prior to joining Physician Growth Partners, Christopher was an Associate with Huron Transaction Advisory where he advised healthcare clients on buy- and sell-side transactions. He began his career with VMG Health, providing transaction advisory and valuation services to healthcare businesses.

Akshay Amin

Akshay earned his A.B. in Economics, with Honors, from Harvard University and joined Physician Growth Partners in 2025, first as an intern before transitioning to a full-time role.

As a member of PGP’s sell-side M&A advisory team, he supports physician and founder-owned healthcare businesses across a wide range of specialties. His work includes financial analysis, marketing material development, buyer outreach, due diligence, and execution support, helping clients navigate each stage of the transaction process to achieve their objectives.
